This can cause a product to fail more quickly and can even lead to production halts. One method to prevent this is by treating the steel with zinc, also known as galvanizing. Galvano Hengelo is a specialist in galvanizing various types of metal.
During galvanization, a protective surface coating is applied. More specifically, a metallic coating is applied to a metallic substrate. This can be for electrical conductivity, corrosion protection, or to make the product more durable and wear-resistant. In our own laboratory, we can ensure consistent quality and maintain continuous focus on improvement.

Improved electrical conductivity?
For enhanced electrical conductivity, silver-plating and tinning are the best choices. Poor electrical conductivity results in lower efficiency and a risk of heat generation. Another reason to galvanize steel may be to enhance its impact and wear resistance. Applying a zinc coating allows materials to withstand mechanical stresses effectively. Galvanic tinning significantly improves the solderability and corrosion resistance of your product.
Corrosion protection?
The galvanic process of zinc-nickel plating provides excellent corrosion protection, but it does not penetrate into holes and cavities as well and has higher tolerance on the applied layer (up to 300%). On the other hand, chemical nickel plating offers less corrosion protection at the same thickness, but it can penetrate into holes and cavities more effectively. Additionally, it allows for very precise control of the layer thickness. Aluminum galvanizing is not possible with zinc-nickel plating.
